Large vegetation maintenance contracts are commonplace in O&M budgets in an effort to avoid plant growth from damaging or obstructing the solar collectors. Mowing and herbicide applications are the most common methods used by landscape maintenance companies to control plant growth. These practices can lead to significant reductions in the profitability and efficiency of any solar asset using them, either directly from high cost, or from other consequences, such as dusty landscapes, erosion and damage to the system components themselves.
